Look no further for a unique evening of dance tuition - with something for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced dancers. The evening is divided into two parts - we begin with our Beginners Guide to Argentine Tango and then we move onto our Beginners Guide to Cross Body Salsa and Improver/Intermediate Salsa... 7:00-8:00 - Beginners/Technique Salsa - £5.00 A combined Beginners/Technique level class depending on experience levels we may split this class between our two teachers. Absolute beginners always welcome. This is a 45 minute class followed by 15 minutes guided practice time. 8:00-9:00 - Improver Plus Salsa - £5.00 More demanding salsa to raise your game! Exciting patterns designed to enhance your dancing. Lots of useful repetoire at Improver and Intermediate levels. This is a 45 minute class followed by 15 minutes (or more) practice time. 9:00-10:00 - Beginners Guide to Argentine Tango - £5.00 Tango is a remarkable and richly rewarding partner dance involving subtle and expressive movements in close and openembrace - discover the world of the vals, tango and milonga, the ocho,the cross and the barrida, the haunting energy of the bandoneon and a world of great tango events on your doorstep and beyond. Join this class at any time, beginners are welcome at every class. Class time: 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes guided practica Discounts: 1 class: £5, 2 classes: £8, 3 classes: £10 Please note, there's no bar so bring your own drinks!
General class notes:	Joining a tango class for the first time Tango is a deliciously complex dance that can keep you on a learning path for the rest of your life! But it's also a dance that you can engage with from a very early stage. Our Beginners Guide teaches you everything you need to know to enjoy your fist tango milonga - from movement, connection and walking, to popular salon tango moves, dancefloor ettiquette and music interpratation. We recommend you attend with a dance partner, but as teachers we can partner in both lead and following rolls so we can partner you if you come alone - there are also regular partner changes so there shouldn't be much standing around during the class. Joining a salsa class for the first time If you've never been to a salsa class then you're probably feeling a bit uncertain at this stage! Don't be! We've been introducing people to salsa for years now and we do it gently! The atmosphere in the class is always positive and fun... we explain everything very clearly and we make sure that everyone is comfortable all the way through the session. Most people are able to learn the basics very quickly - after that the nerves go and you really start to enjoy yourself. If you need more time to get your head around the footwork that's fine - our absolute Beginners class does what it says on the box! We repeat the same basic stuff every week so you can take as long as you like. We also pace the class so you'll never feel left behind - and you won't feel the focus of attention - everyone is there to learn from scratch so if you feel out of your comfort zone remember everyone else is in the same place as you! If you're nervous about attending that first class we find it can help if you have had a chance to practice the basic footwork before you turn up... you can start now! Teacher:	Ian and Julie - we've been teaching salsa together for over 5 years now - we're both immersed in dance - most evenings we're either teaching salsa, attending salsa dancenights, or attending tango workshops and milongas. Our teaching style is reasonably informal but we pay a lot of attention to good technique (even if that means we may simplify a turn pattern to make sure people are dancing the basics right). We provide a really sound mix of information for both leaders and followers - there are too few teaching partnerships in the Region able to offer this level of teaching input for both partners in the dance. We don't teach Intermediate classes because there's so much that can be covered at Improver lever - but you will find that our Improver class varies in difficulty from week to week and every so often we'll drop an Intermediate level element into the Improver pattern - so don't assume that our classes will be undemanding! We also manage the content of our classes so if you are less experienced you won't feel out of your depth - we are pretty good at helping people to work to a specific level in class and we don't push you to cover the whole pattern unless you are comfortable with it. We are also not pattern-driven - we believe it is much more important to get the basics right - and that means we focus on good technique, effective communication between partners, smoothness in the dance and an awareness of the space you occupy on the dancefloor and the flow of one well-executed move into another. Salsa is a showy dance - so our teaching is geared towards ensuring that you and your dance partner are able to really enjoy the dance as well as being able to put on a good show for anyone who happens to be watching! Please note that during our classes we call for regular partner changes - these are important to ensure that your dancing develops properly (and it's a sociable approach to the evening).
